MODERN WORKING ENVIRONMENTS

The banking business has changed drastically in recent years.
Modernisation has not been limited to the front-office – a lot has also happened in the administrative offices: new working environments are being designed to meet the individual needs of employees, but also with an eye to improving sustainability, reducing energy consumption and meeting the company’s business requirements.

At HVB Immobilien AG, this new working environment is known as 'Smart Working'.
Instead of having a specific desk permanently assigned to them, employees are free to choose from a variety of working environments depending on the work they are doing. There is a 'Quiet Zone' for conceptual work that demands high concentration, or 'Co-working Zones' for working on projects with several colleagues, as well as the 'Business Lounge' for informal exchange and conversation.

All of the areas are equipped with flexible, state-of-the-art office communications facilities such as WLAN and video conferencing equipment, which help to reduce emissions by minimising the number of required commutes and business trips.
The space utilisation achieved with 'Smart Working' is far more efficient than that of conventional individual offices. Since - due to holidays, appointments etc. - the employees are never all at work at the same time, this contemporary concept reduces the amount of office space needed.
This lowers real estate costs as well as the amount of resources consumed, which actively helps to protect the environment.

Smart Working was successfully trialled by about 300 HypoVereinsbank employees at the Tucherpark offices and also adopted at the HVB Tower.
