HypoVereinsbank pools real estate expertise in newly shaped HVB Immobilien AG Munich, 1.4.2010: Effective as of 1 April 2010, HypoVereinsbank is pooling all units involved in the management and marketing of real estate in one company, HVB Immobilien AG. The real estate competency centre HVB Immobilien AG will manage the properties used by the Bank (or the Group) as well as the non-strategic properties, such as those not used (or no longer used) by Group companies. It is also responsible for properties acquired by HypoVereinsbank through restructuring and workout loans and takes on management responsibilities for selected properties owned by subsidiaries of UniCredit Bank AG. The pooling of these real estate units combined with the strong regional presence will in particular simplify portfolio management and the sale of properties. New business segment: Property Sales Management As a new business segment, HVB Immobilien will provide the management and marketing of properties related to non-performing loans as a service in the German market. In the past, the real estate specialists have carried out this work successfully and exclusively for HypoVereinsbank. The responsible management board member Friedhelm Bullerdieck sees growth potential in this area: "The market has been interested in our services for years. Now we can finally offer our services in the market. We are already in talks with potential customers." Professional service provider for UniCredit Group in Germany As the owner, principal tenant or principal landlord of all bank properties, HVB Immobilien AG is also in charge of property management for these properties and coordinates external service providers. "Because we have now pooled and standardised the organisational structures and management mechanisms for all properties used by the UniCredit Group in Germany, we can run them more efficiently. Through cooperation with our counterpart organisation in the UniCredit Group, particularly the real estate companies in Italy and Austria, we expect to profit from a beneficial exchange and the utilisation of synergies," said Peter Weidenhöfer, the management board member of HVB Immobilien AG in charge of Corporate Real Estate, outlining the benefits for the UniCredit Group.
